Dress for the day you want to have
Your elopement clothes should help you move, explore, and stay present. If you are planning a fellside walk, choose footwear and layers that let you enjoy it. If you are staying close to a venue, you may prefer a more traditional outfit. There is no correct answer — only what feels like you.
Layers make photographs easier
The Lake District can move from sun to cloud and back again in the same hour. A smart coat, wool layer, or tailored jacket can become part of the look while keeping you comfortable between photographs. Consider a beautiful pair of boots, a wrap, or a second outfit for the portrait walk.
Think about movement and texture
Long skirts, soft fabrics, veils, and textured jackets photograph beautifully when there is a breeze. Avoid anything that makes walking or sitting difficult. Bring a garment bag, comfortable shoes for travelling, and any accessories you want photographed close up.
Keep the practical details simple
- Check the forecast, but do not plan around one app prediction
- Bring footwear that suits the ground underfoot
- Pack a small emergency kit with pins, water, and a warm layer
- Choose colours and textures that sit naturally against the landscape
Your photographs should feel like a record of a real day, not a performance. Read about The Elopement Collection, browse the journal, or talk through your plans with me.
